My First CD Player...

...was from Fisher, a so-called top-loader with a 16Bit 4-times Oversampling D/A converter. And hey presto - compared to my old scratchy turntable this was comfortable, didn't sound like the sizzling bacon in the frying pan and was programmable (!). Connected to some old amplifier using bell wire and some dodgy cinch-plugs this was soon the new dimension of sound.

One day, noticeably 6 years later, the player gave up its life. I invested another small amount of money in a new player, a NAD 5325. And again, a completely new acoustic dimension in my ears...

Until now, I still run my CD's on this NAD player. Yes, I know, it is a bit long in its teeth, and its D/A converter technology has been around for some years. But: It still sounds as smooth, soft and balanced like on its very first day. And no, I'm not even thinking about replacing this goldie...
